Tonka
Tonka will allways be a famous American toy brand.  This is something that I'm just starting to realize.  The company started small and stayed in Minnesota until the early eighties.  By then their toys were well known, but they had to keep up with manufacturing costs by moving the plant.  Later Tonka was purchased by Hasbro.

What people all seem to remember when they come looking for a Tonka Truck at the toy store is the metal trucks.  Before the 1980's Tonka's didn't have alot of plastic parts to them.  They were made of pressed steel, and assembled using rivits and metal tabs to hold the toys together.  If you look closely at a old Tonka and a New Tonka you will see the difference.
