I have to say I think this is the coolest Star Trek Phaser around. It features lights and sounds. But also just like a semi automatic pistol, it has a slideing feature on the top piece so it looks like your getting it ready to fire. It also features a battery case that looks just like a ammo clip on the bottom of the grip. So you can drop the clip out, put in new batteries and look cool doing it. Now for the condition. I opened the box, to take the try me batteries out of it. They had stopped working, and I didn't want them to carrode. as far as I remember i didn't have to remove it from the cardboard insert to remove the batteries. The box and the toy are in good conditon, the box does have a little shelf wear. So all in all this makes an excellent role play toy or display peice.
